Dream Beyond

Thought Thought (Day 143: 20-Nov-2013)

and reach your highest.

Sahithya was a very curious child. Her parents knew that their daughter was going to reach heights that were only dreams to them.  They provided all things best under their limitations. They did everything except show her a how to grow.

This was when a teacher in her 5th std class changed Sahithya’ s life. It was the teacher’s first day in school and she wanted to share her life story with the children to create a positive impression in them.
She introduced herself to class telling that this was the biggest dream she had – to become a teacher- and she had achieved it. And she explained to the class that each of them should set their ambition and work towards it.

Curious enough, little Sahithya asked her teacher why she wanted to be a mere elementary school teacher but not a college professor. The teacher then explained to her, each individual has a right to have his or her own ambition. Each person’s dream and aspiration depends on what they want in life and many other factors they have come across in life. Just because Sahithya thought becoming a professor was more of an achievement than becoming a teacher, it was not necessary that the teacher too had to reflect the same thoughts. The teacher narrated how she was born in the slums and getting a square meal a day was their everyday challenge. She had seen children from affluent families go to school and had craved to be one of them even when she was 10 years old. She got lucky to be noticed by one of the school teachers who promised to educate her if she really willed. And this young girl of 10yrs old went to school for the first time and had to sit among kids half her age to become a literate. The kindness, patience and tolerance shown by her teacher made her to vow that she too would one day become a teacher and be an inspiration to young kids. She believed that what is imbibed into the young minds get carried forward all through their life.

As she finished her story, she told Sahithya to remember a saying that had been her mantra. And it was this one. Sahithya was astounded by the story and the thought shared by her teacher. From that day on, this has become her mantra as well. She has been reaching for the sky and has sure been reaching the top successfully.
